Why you should stay at a B&B in Salento (rather than book a hotel)

Imagine wandering around and tasting fine wine in small Italian towns, visiting the hundreds of churches in Puglia, or looking through thousands of photographs. You'll definitely have time to do all this and more if you have decided to spend your vacation in Salento. This place has many attractions that make it a unique destination, a “must-see” on any Italy tour: the Salento sub-region is rich with picturesque villages, immaculate medieval towns, breathtaking beaches, and modern seaside spas. Where should you stay? There is no shortage of hotels, of course, but an increasing number of tourists are choosing B&Bs instead. Are you considering staying at a B&B in Salento? Here's why we think this is the ticket to a perfect vacation.

You will have a more authentic experience

If you're looking for a more authentic Italian experience, then a bed and breakfast is the way to go. A bed and breakfast provides a unique opportunity to get away from it all, relax and enjoy nature, culture and architecture while still having access to modern luxuries. If you're looking for something different from your usual hotel stay, then this is the perfect alternative.

You can get tips from the locals

Staying in a B&B will allow you to meet new people. You will get to know other travelers and locals at the same time. In addition, you can learn about local culture and customs much better than if you just spent your spare time in your hotel room.

B&B owners tend to know their area very well, so they can help you plan your days out and give advice about what places are worth visiting or avoiding altogether. If there is anything else that they can't help with, they can usually provide contacts for other people who can provide assistance with that particular thing - such as restaurant reservations or excursions.

The food is better

A lot of hotels all over the world offer their guests an “all inclusive” package, where they include two meals in the room rate. This is what people have come to expect when they travel abroad on a budget, but it can often be disappointing. Besides, you will be missing out on half the fun, if you go for international "continental" breakfasts while staying here. When it comes to food, Salento offers one of the finest culinary traditions in Italy. You'll find plenty of authentic dishes made with fresh ingredients if you stay at a B&B in Salento.

Unique buildings with a history

Many B&Bs are located in historical buildings or old farmhouses that have been restored to their former glory. The rooms are usually decorated with rustic furniture and sometimes antiques from Italy's past. Just like hotel rooms, however, they also have private bathrooms and Wi-Fi access.
