Best European destinations to visit this autumn

Autumn is the perfect time to visit Europe. The weather is still pleasant, but the crowds have gone home, and prices are lower than at their high-season peak. You can get all the sights you'd want to see, plus enjoy some of the continent's most beautiful landscapes in fall colors. To help you plan your trip, here are six destinations that will look great on Instagram while they're also giving off that cozy feel we love about autumn:

Apulia, Italy

Apulia is a region in southeastern Italy that has been attracting visitors for generations. The food here is excellent, the weather is mild, and the scenery is breathtaking—what's not to love?

If you're traveling here in autumn, you'll want to take advantage of all that there is to do and see. There are plenty of historical sites like Alberobello or Otranto, which are great for exploring on foot or by bicycle. If you're looking for something more active, head out into nature, hiking in one of Salento's natural reserves, or take a boat trip along the coast. It's still warm enough to go swimming and snorkeling, without the hassle of the crowded beaches and overpriced hotels!

Bruges, Belgium

Bruges is a historic city in Belgium. It dates back to the 13th century and was once one of the richest cities in Europe. Its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has been preserved over the years thanks to its rich history. Bruges' medieval architecture makes it a popular tourist destination; there are many museums and galleries as well.

Bruges is also known for its canal system that runs through most of the city, making it easy for tourists to explore on foot or by boat!

Bay of Kotor, Montenegro

The Bay of Kotor, Montenegro is yet another region that has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. This area is surrounded by mountains and will give you the feeling that you have traveled back in time to another era. The bay itself is filled with history and culture, but it's also the perfect place to visit this autumn.

The weather there during this time of year is beautiful, making your trip even more enjoyable.

Killybegs, Ireland

Killybegs is a fishing town in County Donegal, Ireland. It has been a fishing port for over 400-year, and it is perhaps one of the most underrated tourist destinations in the region. The town has also become well known for its beautiful scenery and the stunning countryside that attracts hikers from all over the island and beyond.

Estoril Coast, Portugal

The Estoril Coast, located west of Lisbon, has a long history of tourism dating back to the 18th century when it was frequented by aristocrats from across Europe. Today, it’s still a popular destination for tourists who want to enjoy its long stretches of golden sand beaches, charming seaside towns and excellent weather—even in autumn.

The Estoril Coast is also a good place to visit if you want to get away from the crowds in Lisbon. The beaches are less crowded in the low season, and there are plenty of attractions along the coast that make it easy to fill up your days with activities.

Halkidiki, Greece

Greece is a wonderful destination to visit in autumn, as the temperature is still enjoyable, and the scenery will be at its most colorful. If it's beaches, you're after, Halkidiki has them in abundance. The coastline here isn't too dissimilar to that of Ibiza, with long stretches of golden sand protected by towering cliffs. There are also plenty of historical sites to explore - ancient ruins litter the area and small towns make for pleasant stops on your drive around.

These destinations are particularly beautiful in autumn.

This autumn is a particularly good time to visit Europe. The weather is nice, the leaves are changing color and there are fewer tourists in most major cities. This means that if you want to explore a European city on foot or bike, you've got more room than usual. Many people prefer the countryside during fall because it's quieter and less crowded than summertime.

It’s an exciting time to travel in Europe. There are so many different destinations and cultures to explore, and there are new experiences waiting around every corner. If you want to add some adventure into your autumn trip, we recommend visiting one of these unique destinations!
